There was some discussion by the group a few months ago on Wind Driven
Generators. Found the following add and thought it might be of interest
to some of the fAA'ers.
"Wind Driven Generator. 1940s. $300.00 For Sale: Originall for
L-4 (Piper) liason aircraft in 1943/44 by the General Armuture Corp in
Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. These are NEW IN THE ORIGINAL MFG. Complete
with inspectors "run-in" test tags attached. Bullet shaped with cast
aluminum propellor, they are 12" in length and 3 1/2" diameter. Weight
9 lbs. Output originally tagged at military 24V, but local electrical
wizard tells me you can use a potentiometer in line to produce a
reliable 12V (or any voltage from 1 to 24) I bought all available (some
30 plus) as these must be the last of the "new old stock" left in the
world. Better buy one while you can. The WW II wind driven generator
and propellor. Refer to item no 8/34-M when you contact Jon W. Aldrich
in Groveland, California. Telephone & Fax 209 962 6121 --Posted
